Väinö is an Assistant Computer Scientist with the Leadership Computing Facility. He became interested in machine learning during his bachelor’s degree studies at Aalto University, Finland. This interest quickly led to him applying to a ML trainee position at the Finnish national HPC center, CSC, where Väinö remained for 4 years. While working at CSC Väinö also completed master's degree in ML, AI, and Data science. At CSC his latest work was mostly on the LUMI supercomputer, supporting large scale AI research, training large language models.
